01Our Commitment

At Open Play Pickleball & Padel Club, we are committed to providing an inclusive, safe, and enjoyable environment for all.

We believe great communities are founded on a culture of mutual respect, integrity, and sportsmanship. Every person who walks through Open Play's doors helps build a welcoming and safe space together, whether you are attending your first open play, competing in a tournament, taking a clinic, or spending time around the club.

These Community Standards & Code of Conduct apply to everyone, including players, members, guests, staff, instructors, officials, volunteers, and all other individuals associated with Open Play, on and off the court. By taking part in programs, events, leagues, tournaments, communication channels, and other club activities hosted by or associated with Open Play, members and guests agree to uphold these standards and to comply with Open Play's Terms of Use and club policies.

02Respect & Sportsmanship

Treat everyone with respect, courtesy, and fairness at all times.

  • Show positive sportsmanship, especially toward players of different levels of experience, skill, and ability.
  • Play responsibly, including understanding, following, and respecting the rules of pickleball and padel with integrity and humility.
  • Compete in good faith, call lines honestly, and resolve disputes calmly and respectfully.

Unsportsmanlike conduct and behavior that Open Play staff consider inappropriate will not be tolerated. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Verbal abuse, harassment, intimidation, or taunting.
  • Aggressive behavior, including open displays of anger or hostility.
  • Reckless or destructive behavior.

03Safety & Well-Being

Put the safety of yourself and others above everything else on the court.

  • Help create an environment where every player feels comfortable and safe taking part, regardless of experience, skill, and ability.
  • Take responsibility for your actions and behavior.
  • Adults are responsible for the conduct and supervision of any minors who come with them.

Aggressive, intimidating, reckless, or destructive behavior directed at people, equipment, facilities, or property is not permitted.

Smoking, vaping, illegal drugs, misuse of alcohol, and weapons are prohibited on the premises. Impairment from alcohol or any substance that affects safety or behavior is grounds for removal.

04Inclusivity & Community Care

Help keep Open Play a welcoming place that respects and protects the diversity of our community.

  • Treat others with kindness, respect, and acceptance regardless of background, identity, age, experience, ability, or skill level.
  • Act in ways that support learning and development, respectful competition, and connection with one another.
  • Avoid conduct that creates an exclusionary, hostile, or unwelcoming environment or discourages others from taking part.

Discrimination or harassment of any kind, including on the basis of race, color, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age, disability, or any other protected characteristic, will not be tolerated.

Harassment includes unwelcome conduct that creates an intimidating, hostile, degrading, humiliating, or offensive environment, and may be verbal, physical, visual, written, or digital.

05Club & Court Etiquette

Show consideration for fellow players, the flow of play, and the club.

  • Follow court reservation rules, time limits, and rotation policies, including leaving the court promptly at the end of your reserved time.
  • Use only approved non-marking court shoes and equipment, and use all equipment as intended.
  • Treat the courts, glass and fencing, furniture, equipment, and all other property with care.
  • Coaching, instruction, or organized play may only take place with Open Play's approval.

Intentional damage to or misuse of property may result in financial responsibility and suspension of privileges.

06Reporting & Non-Retaliation

If you experience or witness conduct that may violate these standards, please tell an Open Play staff member or manager right away, or email info@openplayppc.com. In an emergency, call 911 first.

Open Play will review every concern in a fair, thoughtful, and timely way. Information will be shared only with those who need to know it to review and address the concern.

We encourage good-faith reporting. Knowingly false, malicious, or intentionally misleading reports may themselves be treated as a violation of these standards.

Retaliation against anyone who raises a concern, reports misconduct, takes part in a review, or helps resolve a concern is prohibited. Retaliation may result in disciplinary action separate from the original concern.

07Enforcement & Consequences

Membership and participation at Open Play are privileges, not entitlements. To protect the safety, integrity, and experience of the community, Open Play reserves the right to decide whether conduct is consistent with its values, standards, and expectations. This includes reviewing alleged violations of these Community Standards & Code of Conduct and other club rules and policies, and deciding on an appropriate response.

These standards apply to conduct that takes place:

  • At Open Play facilities.
  • During Open Play programs and events.
  • During activities sponsored by Open Play.
  • In Open Play communication channels, the Open Play app, and other club platforms.
  • At outside events where individuals are representing Open Play.
  • Outside of Open Play, when the conduct materially affects the safety, well-being, operations, reputation, or community experience of Open Play and its members.

Violations may result in one or more of the following, at Open Play's sole discretion:

  • A verbal or written warning.
  • Financial responsibility for damages.
  • Removal from a game, session, or event.
  • Removal from volunteer or ambassador roles.
  • Temporary or permanent suspension of playing privileges.
  • Temporary or permanent cancellation of membership or access.
  • Temporary or permanent exclusion from Open Play facilities, events, programs, or digital spaces.
  • Involvement of security or law enforcement, if necessary.

When reviewing concerns, Open Play may consider patterns of behavior, repeated complaints, prior incidents, and the overall impact of the conduct on the community.

No refunds or credits will be issued for removals or suspensions resulting from violations of these Community Standards & Code of Conduct or other club rules and policies.

08Acknowledgment
